Campia Turzii Power Station, modernized following a 10 mil. euro investment
In mid-November, together with National Power Transmission and System Operator Transelectrica SA, we inaugurated the Campia Turzii 220/110/20 kV Power Station.
Following a 10 mil. euro investment, the works consisted in the complete refurbishment of the power station, including primary and secondary equipment, SCADA system, the telecontrol of the station from the National and Territorial Power Dispatch and the installation of two 220/110 kV and 110/20 kV power transformers.
“Through the modernization of the power station we ensure the exploitation conditions required by the international standards, as well as maintain the operation costs at a reasonable level by replacing the equipment which has become outdated.” said Corina Popescu, CEO of Transelectrica.
Campia Turzii Power Station is a major power transit hub between the areas of Cluj, Alba and Mures county, it’s role being an important one for ensuring the secure and continuous supply with energy of the entire northern area of Transylvania.
“We started the works two years ago and they progressed at a usual pace for such a big project. We already have experience in this field, especially after we have won several international projects in Western Europe, especially Germany, but also in Romania. Such projects are not done often, but once every few decades. The power station covers not only the Turda – Campia Turzii area, even Cluj-Napoca, but also the neighboring counties. It is important not only for the inhabitants of the city but also for the investors who will open offices in the industrial parks in this area.” says Teofi Muresan, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Electrogrup.
