Electrogroup, part of the association that will develop an intelligent traffic management system in Piatra Neamț worth 5.5 mil. Euro
Electrogroup, member of the E-INFRA group, will develop, in an association led by Swarco Traffic Romania, an intelligent traffic management system in the municipality of Piatra Neamț worth 5.5 million Euro, VAT not included, along with Urban Scope SRL.
“Only few months after we announced the start of the first project in Romania that integrates various Smart City solutionsin Piatra Neamț, we continue the rapid steps towards the Smart development of the municipality, with an intelligent traffic management system, whose beneficiaries will be the inhabitants, the local police, the public transport operator, tourists and people transiting the city and, last but not least, the municipality. All for an increase in the safety of citizens in the public space, as well as a decrease in waiting times in traffic and, as a result, the reduction of pollution in the urban area, generated by the decrease of emissions,” said Adrian Florea, CEO, Electrogroup.
Electrogroup will provide, install, configure and operate equipment and licenses for communications systems, LPR(cameras recognizing license plates) and CCTV (closed circuit video surveillance), but will also carry out civil work and set-up the command and control center.
The project, which will run for 82 months, will have a non-refundable financing component through the Regional Operational Programme (ROP) 2014-2020, Priority Axis 4 – “Supporting Sustainable Urban Development”.
“The project financing contract was signed on 28 January and we have now moved on to the next phase, namely its implementation. The intelligent traffic management system in the municipality of Piatra-Neamț aims to increase the attractiveness of public transport and to migrate as many inhabitants as possible towards this means of transport, by reducing travel times and transport costs, with positive effects on decreasing pollution and energy consumption, decongesting traffic and improving traffic safety. The value of the contract signed today is 32,263,990 lei and is complementary to six other projects that have obtained European funding and which relate to the modernisation and reorganization of urban corridors, the modernisation of bus stops, the purchase of electric buses and the implementation of a bike sharing system in our municipality,” mentions Dragoș Chitic, Piatra Neamț Mayor.
72% of the European citizens live in urban areas, where 75% of the total energy is consumed, and 98% of the urban journeys are less than five kilometers long. Thus, cities with a high population density and a high share of short-distance travel have a great potential to focus on low carbon emission transport, by reorienting to pedestrian, bicycle and public transport.
Earlier this year, Electrogroup started the implementation of the first integrated Smart City project in Romania – the modernization of public transport waiting stations in Piatra Neamț, a contract worth over 21.1 million lei.
Electrogroup has developed, as General Entrepreneur, complex projects in various construction sectors, in Romania and abroad, in countries such as Germany, Poland, Belgium or the Netherlands. Electrogroup is also one of the most active providers of smart city turn-key solutions for public administrations and private companies. Recently, the company began the development of a multi-storey car park equipped with smart solutions, in Oradea, as well as the layout of the runway and beacons for the Ghimbav-Braşov Airport.
